After a duo of releases, Alexander Wang and adidas Originals recently released a lookbook to tease the upcoming Drop 3 Collection release.
Adidas Originals by Alexander Wang is a unisex apparel and footwear collection that breaks down the boundaries between fashion and streetwear and overruns commonly accepted conventions.
Originals is such an iconic brand, with instantly recognizable symbols and trademarks. It’s both grounded in heritage and also completely modern.
said Wang by email to Vogue Magazine.
With this collection, the idea was to take the codes and iconography of the Adidas Originals brand and look at what their symbols mean and turn them on their head, to invert what’s on the surface and add a layer of subversion.
The 84-piece collection of apparel and footwear is unisex. Juergen Teller photographed the capsule collection, images of which you’re seeing here. Rocco Ritchie, aka Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s 16-year-old son, along with more familiar Wang faces like Hanne Gaby Odiele, Binx Walton, and Lexi Boling, play starring roles in a shoot that riffs on reseller culture.
Wang saw adidas in a different way
He did a whole lot more than just turn the brand’s iconic trefoil and logo upside-side down. In a move that simultaneously capitalized on fashion’s growing preference for limited time pop-ups and tweaked its obsession with “real fakes” à la Gucci’s high-low logo tees, Adidas opted to sell the new collection from the back of a truck.
Now the second part is ready to be sold starting March 1st online and with retailers also.
The complete line will be sold at Adidas Originals and Alexander Wang stores and e-commerce sites and select retailers.
Good luck getting your hands on some of these pieces!
